Plan your move in Switzerland: a practical checklist

Moving checklist

A move is easier to organise when transport, access, furniture and the property handover are planned together. Use this checklist to prepare your quote request and keep track on moving day, in Bern, Zurich and across Switzerland.

Once you know your preferred date

Write down both addresses, your preferred date and an alternative. Note the number of rooms and the approximate amount of furniture.

For both addresses, record the floor, passenger lift and distance from the possible parking place to the entrance.

Photograph large furniture and narrow access points. List assembly, storage, disposal, cleaning or an exterior lift separately.

Before confirming the plan

Check which work, dates and price components the quote includes. Agree additional work and changes before they are carried out.

Clarify access, parking and any lift setup area together. Explicitly agree who arranges reservations and local checks.

Coordinate moving, cleaning and property handover in that order. The old home must be empty and accessible for cleaning.

Before moving day

Pack sturdy boxes and label them by destination room. Mark fragile items clearly and secure drawers and loose parts.

Keep documents, keys, medication, a charger and personal valuables separate and transport them yourself.

Keep stairs and walkways clear. Tell us in advance about changes to furniture, addresses or access.

On moving day and at handover

Brief the team on what is being moved and where it should go. Designate a contact who can be reached.

Before leaving, check the rooms, cellar and any other agreed areas. Keep keys and documents together.

Review the agreed work together after transport. Raise and record any questions or concerns promptly.

What information helps you prepare a quote?

Both addresses, date, room count, floors, lift, parking distance and photos. List additional work separately. A visit may help if access is unclear.

How is an exterior furniture lift planned?

An exterior lift must be assessed separately. Windows or balconies, access, setup space and building conditions need to be suitable. A photo alone does not replace this check.

How should I plan the final cleaning?

Agree the cleaning and handover dates early. Check the precise scope and handover guarantee in your quote. The property must be empty and the key available before cleaning begins.
